Happy Dozenth Year, Mr. Dude!

Announcing an all-new portfolio site

XDudeOh, how time flies! I still remember it like it was yesterday: "What do I want my domain name to be? It’s gotta be short and easy to remember."

With that, "XDude" was born!

12 years and hundreds of projects later, it was time for a new website. While it may be fun to look at, a Flash site site is generally not very fun (or easy) to maintain. It also doesn’t get read properly by search engines — and let’s not forget all the lovely iDevices out there that can’t display it.

Yes, it was time for a change, and not just a new look!

Seeing as how I’m setting up all my clients with WordPress-based websites nowadays, I figured I’d set an example. (If you haven’t already heard of WordPress, it’s a website manager that’s easy to set up, super-easy to update, great for search engine rankings, and will display on just about any screen.)

Over the last 3 months, I’ve laborously hunted, searched and racked my brain for every noteworthy project I’ve ever done. Heck, my new "About" page even has the first two Flash files I ever created — ever!

Thanks to WordPress, my visitors can now post comments directly onto my site, rather than having to hunt for an email address or contact form. There’s also much better integration with social networking, thanks to the little "Share This" icon that appears at the bottom of all my posts. Any article can easily be shared on Facebook, Twitter, Digg, and more!

Lastly — and this is the most exciting part — it’s the return of the Knowledge Emporium! The newly-founded "XDude Academy" gives all my visitors quick and easy access to all my articles, book reviews and frequently asked questions.

If you haven’t already done so, head over to my fancy new site. You can even reply directly to this email to let me know what you think!

What captivates an audience?

What captivates an audience?Over the years, I’ve received thousands of emails from people asking, “Mr. Dude, your animations have inspired, motivated and excited me. I can’t seem to make my own animations half as interesting. How do you do it?”

Here are a few tips on how to turn a drab presentation into something that’ll knock your audience’s socks off!

Does your website suck?

Does your website suck?To put it simply: if your website isn’t grabbing the attention of your visitors, getting them to fill out your contact form, or moving a lot of product — it sucks! Read more.

Vermont Federal Credit UnionTo create a TV commercial that would catch the eye of today’s distracted viewer, we turned the company’s logo into a fun and bouncy character.

With beautiful green fields, blue skies and local landmarks, this 30-second spot presents a friendly and down-to-earth message to the audience. See it here!
